Context and Needs

Multilingualism
Multilingualism is a powerful tool in today’s world, as it allows us to communicate and connect across borders. It sharpens our minds and enhances skills like creativity and problem-solving. It also introduces us to different cultures and perspectives, which develop empathy and understanding. Knowing several languages in an educational context extends knowledge and helps students explore new ideas and challenges. It improves literacy, making it easier to express ourselves. Students gain a deeper appreciation of histories and traditions by learning different languages, which helps build a more inclusive and peaceful future.
Challenges
In today’s connected world, it is important to promote language and cultural skills across Europe. The European Parliament hopes for a future where citizens can communicate easily with each other and respect the different European languages (European Parliament, 2023). But there are challenges: language barriers, unequal access to language education, and the need to respect all languages. We aim, through the Globetrotters project, to tackle these issues and help build a Europe where people understand and appreciate different cultures.

Globetrotters Project
The Globetrotters project is designed to increase awareness of language skills and culture in primary education. It focuses on encouraging intercultural dialogue, celebrating multilingualism, and widening students' understanding of different cultures. The project offers teachers creative teaching tools and opportunities for professional growth. It also involves parents, which extends language learning beyond the classroom, creating a richer and more inclusive learning experience.
