Globetrotters: exploring language and culture through interactive learning
Nowadays, it is important for students to understand different languages and cultures. However, a lot of educational systems still struggle to offer interesting, age-appropriate, and accessible learning resources that encourage children to study languages and develop intercultural skills. Traditional teaching methods do not meet the evolving needs of today’s students.
The Globetrotters project seeks to answer this need by creating a dynamic and immersive educational experience that allows students to explore languages and cultures. The project will promote language skills and cultural awareness by creating discovery modules that offer innovative content such as games, stories, music, and cultural artefacts.
We believe that learning about one’s own and other cultures helps to strengthen identities, enhance social cohesion, and promote a sense of European citizenship. The project will not only allow students to gain language proficiency but also create cross-cultural dialogues between them, promoting respect for diversity.
Schools from across Europe, including Greece, Romania, Serbia, and Belgium, will collaborate to develop discovery modules, creating a multicultural environment that enhances the educational process. The project will provide materials in the languages of the participating countries and in English, making content accessible to a diverse range of learners, including children from migrant or minority backgrounds.
Teachers will be equipped with ready-to-use materials, lesson plans, and training workshops to ensure the integration of these modules into their teaching methods. The project also recognises the value of parental involvement by providing resources to help parents support their children’s language and cultural learning at home.
The Globetrotters project will be tested through direct feedback from students, teachers, and parents, ensuring the materials are practical and meet the educational needs of all stakeholders. The project will also promote cooperation and communication among schools from different cultural backgrounds, creating a network of teachers who can exchange best practices and knowledge.
