Globetrotters:
Learning Languages, Discovering Cultures, Connecting Worlds

In a world where borders feel increasingly virtual, and difference is a daily encounter, education has the power to do something extraordinary: to prepare children not just for tests, but for life together. That’s the heartbeat behind the Globetrotters project, an ambitious European initiative that brings language discovery, cultural curiosity, and inclusive learning into the early years of education.

Why Globetrotters?

At the heart of Globetrotters lies a belief: children are natural explorers. They are born curious, open, and eager to understand the world. What if we could nurture that innate curiosity with tools that allow them to discover not only new words but also new ways of thinking, seeing, and being?

By introducing children aged 6 to 9 to the rich diversity of European languages and cultures, the project helps sow the seeds of multilingualism, empathy and global citizenship.

Learning Through Play

We don’t believe in drills or rote memorisation. Instead, we believe in play as a pathway to learning. That’s why Globetrotters uses gamification and storytelling to create a sense of adventure and delight.

Picture this: a group of pupils are invited to join in on a journey guided by a group of friendly aliens, the Globbytrotties. Along the way, they explore music from Romania, customs from Greece, words in Dutch and Serbian, recipes from Belgium… All while solving puzzles, collecting clues and unlocking new levels of understanding.

Learning becomes a game. And in that game, every culture is celebrated, every language is a key, and every child feels like they belong.

Every Child, Every Culture, Every Voice

We know that classrooms today are diverse, and beautifully so. That’s why Globetrotters is designed with inclusion at its core. Whether a child is neurodivergent, speaks a different language at home, or learns in non-traditional ways, our tools are built to be accessible, adaptable, and engaging for everyone.

The materials are created in collaboration with teachers, linguists, digital experts, and cultural organisations across Europe. We are not just teaching children to learn languages, we are teaching them to love them, to embrace what makes them (and others) unique, and to tell their own stories with pride.

A European Adventure

Funded by Erasmus+, Globetrotters brings together schools and organisations from Belgium, Greece, Serbia, and Romania. Together, we’re developing interactive discovery modules, a gamified platform, and guides for both educators and families.

But more than that, we’re building bridges between classrooms and cultures, between learning and life.

Join Us on the Journey

This blog will be a space to explore the ideas behind Globetrotters: from gamification in education to the importance of cultural awareness, from multilingualism to inclusive teaching. We’ll share insights, stories, tools, and reflections as the project unfolds.

Because the world our children are growing into is vast and interconnected, and they deserve an education that reflects that.

Welcome to Globetrotters.
Let’s discover the world together, one word, one story, one smile at a time.
